How much faster does the scooter go after taking off the restrictor?

with his humble attitude Zaran1 has shown me that we don't have to be know it all mechanics to work on our own modifications or repairs. He has given me the information and confidence that I needed. Oh and by the C3 it is the highest quality 50cc scooter on the market.

sorry, i didnt mean to come off like a d*** but i guess reading it today i did.im just trying to spread the word on this trick. its a very good one whenever you need to keep the crank from turning for any reason.

Good tip. I hadn't read any of the other comments.

or, like i said, you can just stuff some rope in the plug hole and not monkey around with it.

Bravo! You did a fine job. Very effective English! The tool you call a boa constrictor, we a strap wrench. This mod improves gear ratio by slightly increasing maximum diameter of front pulley. You can also put a short length of pipe over the end of your ratchet's handle to help loosen & tighten the bolt.We can all make our own special tool by measuring between the bolts & the area of the housing and using 1/8 to 1/4" steel or aluminum plate with pins or bolts to lock the front pulley.

i would also recommend blue locktite on all bolts

i did not watch the other parts, but i assume that nut is connected to the crank. if so, you can pull the spark plug and stuff some clean nylon rope into the plug hole. not all of it, you need to pull it back out. when you turn the crank, the piston will hit the rope and you can tighten it to your hearts content. pull the rope out, put the plug back in and you're back in business.

Thank you for sharing this! I thinking to buy one. How much faster does it go after this tuning?

You're right, but that "special tool" is just a strap wrench and comes in handy for other jobs as well. Technically if you want to use the proper tool Yamaha sells a spanner that fits into the two holes that are 180 apart. Alternately you can stuff a rag into the thing so it wont turn, but that's usually more trouble than its worth. The nut is pretty tight.
