Allot of the top race drivers in NASCAR started out racing Go Karts when they were young. Go-Karts have been around for years and the Go-Karts that were sold to the public didn't go that fast and we were not required to wear helmets. Nowadays, things have changed ... Go-Karts are really fast and powerful and the use of a helmet is required even at public tracks where you pay to ride Go-Karts furnished by the track.

Safety always comes first. No sense of having fun if your going to get hurt doing it. Always wear a helmet, even if the Go-Kart is slow. You never know who else may be on the Go-Kart track and you must always be prepared for an accident... remember the best swimmers can drown, and the best drivers can have accidents.

If you love Go-Karting and are lucky to have your own Go-Kart, then you will need your own helmet. If you get to the point where you race in kid's Go-kart competitions, you will need a fire safety suit, racing shoes and gloves that are designed with fire safety in mind. Even though Go-Karts carry a small amount of fuel, they can still catch fire in an accident. If you flip the Go-kart and need assistance from a safety crew to get out of your Go-Kart, a fire safety suit may save your life and prevent serious injury. Not All Go-Karts have roll bars that rise up above the driver's head and neck but racing Karts have side bars that protection for the head and upper torso from oncoming Go-Karts. Before strapping yourself into the seat with the four point safety harness make inspections of your Go-Kart every time before you ride it is highly recomended. Go-Karting is good clean fun, and one of the fastest growing sports for kids. Have a blast and be safe!
